The metaphor of timelessness is developed to describe the paralysing “nothing will ever change” feeling that is common to chronic or longer term conditions and work with these conditions. Practical approaches that flow naturally from this description are outlined. These approaches, through disrupting the timelessness, lead to change, progress and hope being more accessible to client and worker.
