During the process of building smart cities, all monitors collect different types of data from the mobile devices, which needs the support of routing and delivery. However, this brings a serious problem, that is, how to guarantee the secure communication. In this paper, the hybrid encryption is exploited to make the secure communication strategy at the same time the in‐network caching of Named‐Data Network (NDN) is explored and deployed at the ordinary router. Meanwhile, this paper improves Rivest Sharmir Adleman (RSA) algorithm to encrypt the transmitted data. The simulation results show that the proposed secure communication strategy is more efficient compared to the benchmarks in terms of data correctness and key update rate.
