Policy and charging rule function (PCRF) is a node in LTE‐A network for provisioning of policy and charging resources to policy and charging enforcement function. In roaming scenario, to provide policy to policy and charging enforcement function, there can be involvement of PCRF of visited network (V‐PCRF), PCRF of home network (H‐PCRF) and subscription profile repository (SPR) nodes. Depending on the implementation and operator policy, policy provisioning can involve all the nodes or may not involve all the nodes in roaming scenario. In this paper, we analyze and compare the delay performance of policy provisioning for various scenarios when all nodes are involved and all nodes are not involved. We use open queuing network model to analyze the performance of various policy provisioning scenarios.
