Diversity of the carapace valve structure in the Anomopoda (Crustacea: Branchiopoda) is described. We found that transformations of shape, modifications of the surface and valve margins, and thickening or thinning of the valves, take place independently in different families, sometimes resulting in a convergent similarity. The limits of morphological diversity in these features determine the range of adaptive radiation in general form of the group. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
