Abstract A total of 399 eels were recovered from a rotenone operation in part of a tributary stream of the River Nore. Figures for biomass of 52 kg per ha or 42 kg per km were calculated. Small eels were scarce and the youngest aged was 6 years. The oldest was 28 years and measured 57 cm. The majority of eels in the stream measured between 30 cm and 50 cm and were aged between 10 and 20 years.
