Classification and mapping of aquatic vegetation is an important task in limnology. In this paper we will present a new computer aided and interactive method for this purpose. It is similar to older techniques in that the classification relies on the judgement of the human eye. The precision is increased by using a linear diode array scanner and the evaluation times are reduced by introducing computer vision techniques. Combining these in an interactive environment gives the operator a powerful tool for the classification. The results from a mapping of aerial infrared colour photographs will be presented.
