The articles presented in this special issue focus on Robotics and Computer Vision and have been selected as some of the best papers presented at the Sixth Catalan Conference on Artificial Intelligence. In the first article, Antich and Ortiz introduce recent results on the development of a control architecture for an autonomous underwater vehicle. The study by Burguera, González, and Oliver deals with a new solution for the exploration of unknown environments with a mobile robot. The article by Ambastha, Busquets, López de Màntaras, and Sierra builds upon a multiagent architecture for landmark-based autonomous robot navigation in unknown environments. The article by Amores and Radeva shows a contentsbased image retrieval system of medical images of bodies with high elasticity. The article by Masip and Vitrià presents an extended analysis of different faceprocessing techniques for gender recognition problems. Finally, the article by Montoliu and Pla discusses and presents a solution for the motion segmentation and estimation of moving objects in a video sequence.
