Practising gratitude is a simple method to improve your life and helps to overcome negativity bias. This is particularly important for the veterinary profession in our drive for perfection, something that can sometimes prevent us from celebrating all that we have achieved and instead focus on what we haven't accomplished. This article is the first in a series on quality improvement (QI) from RCVS Knowledge. Throughout the series, the authors will draw on their expertise in patient safety and clinical human factors to discuss principles of QI and associated themes, including communication, practice culture, teamwork, patient safety and leadership.
