There are few people who enjoy having challenging conversations, but the ability to have these in a professional manner and with understanding and compassion is an essential skill for anyone who holds a lead role in veterinary practice. It is important that challenging situations are discussed with honesty, clarity, integrity and, perhaps most of all – with all the strong emotions that can arise – objectivity.
