Reticular chemistry is concerned with the design and synthesis of targeted framework structures by linking molecular building units with pre‐selected shapes. In this article, we review the geometrical aspects of the subject. In particular, the concept of minimal transitivity is introduced as a guideline to identify types of framework that are most suitable as targets for synthesis.
