The unique combination of high hardness, high thermal conductivity, and low friction coefficient makes diamond an excellent cutting tool material for the machining of abrasive, non‐ferrous workpieces. This paper reviews basic and applied aspects of the technology as applied to the preparation of diamond coated cutting tools.
