Alcoholysis of cyclohexene oxide by methanol and allyl alcohol, catalyzed by chromatographic γ‐alumina, was studied. Two procedures were used: (1) passing a mixture of the epoxide and alcohol through a column of alumina at 25° and (2) stirring a mixture of epoxide and alcohol over alumina at 100°. The 25° column procedure allowed conversion of ca 2 mmol of epoxide per 1 g of alumina, and the 100°‐reaction allowed catalytic conversion of ca 100 mmol of epoxide per 1 g of alumina. These results are compared with those reported for zeolite catalysts.
