The use of crosslinked polymers as immobilizing media in chemical and biochemical processes is reviewed. Numerous successful immobilization experiments are described. A considerable number of unsuccessful attempts are also presented. In an attempt to settle the recent controversy as to the applicability of polymers as immobilizing matrices, a unified view is given of the subject, explaining both successful and unsuccessful results.
