The relative stabilities of stereoisomers in the vitamin D 3 series were established using the appearance — ionization energies differences obtained for the main fragmentation processes characteristic of these compounds. The influence of (Z)‐and (E)‐configurations of the 5,6‐double bonds in vitamin D 3 stereoisomers on the previtamin D ‐ vitamin D equilibrium in gas phase, have been also studied.
