Abstract The compounds Cs 3 FeBr 5 , Cs 3 MnBr 5 ,Tl 3 FeCl 5 , Tl 3 CoCl 5 , (NH 4 ) 3 FeCl 5 and (NH 4 ) 3 CoCl 5 were prepared and their crystal structures determined. Cs 3 FeBr 5 , Cs 3 MnBr 5 , Tl 3 FeCl 5 and Tl 3 CoCl 5 belong to the tetragonal system, space group 14/mcm, isostructural with Cs 3 CoCl 5 [1]. (NH 4 ) 3 FeCl 5 and (NH 4 ) 3 CoCl 5 belong to the orthorhombic system, space group Pnma, isostructural with (NH 4 ) 3 ZnCl 5 [2].
