Differential thermal curves of spurrite‐calcite rocks show two characteristic endothermic peaks at 725–850°C and at 845–990°C, both due to decarbonization. A method for determining the amounts of calcite and spurrite when both are present is proposed using DTA analysis in conjunction with the determination of CO 2 in the bulk sample. The results of DTA are confirmed by TG and X‐ray diffraction studies.
