The use of Amberlyst‐15 ion‐exchanger (as the 3‐bromopyridinium salt) for the separation of coupling product in the picolyl ester method of peptide synthesis is exemplified by a description of the synthesis of N‐butoxycarbonyl‐O‐benzyl‐L‐seryl‐S‐benzylthiomethyl‐L‐cysteinylglycyl‐L‐phenylalanine 4‐picolyl ester, in 76.5% overall yield, from phenylalanine 4‐picolyl ester dihydrobromide.
