Base treatment of open‐chain γ, δ ‐ epoxyketones yields usually two cyclopropane derivatives, a trans‐1‐acy1‐2(α ‐ hydroxyalkyl) cyclopropane (II) and a 2‐hydroxy‐3‐oxabicyclo[3, 1, 0] hexane (III). The NMR spectra and some other physical properties of compounds II and III and of some of their transformation products are reported.
