Abstract A number of spiranic β‐ketoesters have been prepared and transformed into the corresponding phenylpyrazolinones by condensation with phenylhydrazine. The structures of the β‐ketoesters and the pyrazolinones, derived from their UV, IR and NMR spectra, are discussed.
