Copper (II) complexes of the types [CuCl 2 L 2 ] and [CuCl 4 ]H 2 ·2L, where L = m and p nitroaniline, (o, m and p) chloroaniline were prepared in solid crystalline form and their IR spectra was recorded at 25°C as Nujoll mulls and KBr pellets. A close linear relationship between the strength of the Cu ‐ N bond, deduced from the perturbations of the NH 2 stretching frequencies, and the basic strength of the amino group were observed.
