Dakin's method for the resolution of erythro‐β‐hydroxy‐DL‐aspartic acid gives only incomplete separation. The N‐benzyl derivative of this amino acid, however, has been resolved by means of L‐histidine. Both antipodes are obtained optically pure and in practically quantitative yield.
