Tubeimoside 1, one of the new triterpenoid saponins from the bulb of Bolbostemma paniculatum (Maxim) Franquet, had an anti‐inflammatory effect on mouse ear edema induced by arachidonic acid and 12‐O‐tetradecanoylphorbol‐13‐acetate (TPA). Furthermore, a potent anti‐tumorigenic effect of tubeimoside I was observed in 2‐stage carcinogenesis of mouse skin after oral administration as well as topical application. Thus, tubeimoside I appears to be a promising agent for cancer chemoprevention.
