A randomized trial of cytotoxic drugs in the treatment of florid and infiltrative types of Kaposi's sarcoma is reported. One of 10 patients treated with cyclophosphamide and nine of 12 patients treated with actinomycin D had tumour regression, demonstrating the superiority of the latter form of therapy. Patients with florid lesions responded more rapidly and completely than those with infiltrative lesions. Histologically, those tumours with the monocellular pattern accompanied by marked fibrosis or those with anaplastic variants proved to be refractory to therapy.
