The spontaneous aberrations which occur in cells from patients with Fanconi's anaemia have been shown to be distributed in a random manner. Adenovirus type 12‐induced chromosome aberrations are non‐random in cells from patients with Fanconi's anaemia and there is a high degree of specificity for a site on the No. 17 chromosome, as is found in cytogenetically normal human cells. Although foci of infected cells were found in long‐term Fanconi cultures there was no evidence of viral transformation.
