Four cinnamon ringtail monkeys (Cebus albifrons) inoculated intramuscularly with Herpesvirus saimiri died between 18 and 20 days after inoculation. Each of the four monkeys presented an extensive infiltration of reticulum cells in various organs (liver, lungs, kidney, pancreas, spleen, thymus, lymph node). The character of the infiltrate closely resembled reticulum cell sarcoma thus providing further evidence of the high oncogenic capacity of Herpesvirus saimiri.
