The distribution of Burkitt's lymphoma is related to endemicity of malaria, not only on a world‐wide basis, but also in more detailed studies in East Africa, particularly in Uganda. This geographical association, together with the diminished incidence of AS haemoglobulin in patients with this tumour and the increased susceptibility to lymphoma formation in mice infected with chronic malaria, suggest a causal relationship.
