Two hundred and three cases of the African lymphoma based on doctors' recall of cases are mapped and examined with reference to their geographical distribution. Altitude is shown to be important but minimum temperature is questioned. The effect of these distributional findings on existing hypotheses of insect‐vectored virus aetiology of the tumours is discussed and the need for further and more accurate studies in south‐central Africa is stressed. Such work should become possible shortly with the establishment of uniform Cancer Registries in the territories.
