International audienceThe objective of this special issue is therefore to bring forward a comprehensive, state-of-the-art overview of hydrological and hydromechanical knowledge on the behaviour of clay-shales. This special issue addresses this topic from microscopic laboratory scale to mesoscopic field experiments covering large parts of a slope and giving space to a wide range of research fields, among which geology, slope hydrology, hydrogeophysics, hydrochemistry, hydraulics, geotechnics and modelling
