Depressed patients showed a decreased 5‐HT uptake rate and aggregation response and increased platelet ketanserin binding, compared to normal controls. Five weeks treatment with either mianserin or dothiepin improved the biochemical parameters in the patients, although the parameters still had not returned to control levels. There was no difference between the biochemical markers in the mianserin and dothiepin groups at any time during the study.
