A successful publishing firm is examined carefully in order to explicate its unique organizational structure, e.g., a shamrock of two levels of teams with holonomic features; its unusual managerial practices, e.g., strategy formulated bottom‐up; and its distinctive managerial roles, e.g., steward, designer, educator. The firm's associated human resource practices and issues are also discussed in detail.
