Many managers complain about the quality of group meetings. Information technology, in the form of a group support system (GSS), has the potential to improve meeting quality. This article offers an integrated model for explaining why a particular GSS improves meetings. The explanatory model is based on the meeting cycle model; organizational development research; and theories of social comparison, information exchange, and organizational change.
