One‐electron oxidation of 5, 6, 7, 8‐tetrahydropterine (THP) in acidic media has produced EPR signals with hyperfine structure. Deuterium exchange and perturbation of the THP molecule by methyl groups in different positions allow the interpretation of the observed splitting. It is shown that the free spin of the cationic THP radical is strongly localized in position N(5), which is in agreement with previous theoretical calculations. Der Autor dankt Herrn Prof. M.
