A simple and highly concise strategy has been developed for the stereoselective total synthesis of leiocarpin C starting from commercially available mandelic ester. The strategy utilizes the OsO 4 ‐catalyzed cis ‐hydroxylation and selective reduction with K‐Selectride as key steps.
