Isolation and Structure Elucidation of Differolide From cultures of a new actinomycete, Streptomyces aurantiogriseus (P REOBRAZHENSKAYA 1975), strain Tü 3149 , a compound C 12 H 12 O 4 was isolated, which enhances the formation of aerial mycelium and spores of Streptomyces glaucescens . The structure determined by X‐ray diffraction studies was that of racemic dilactone 1 ((±)‐differolide).
