(−)‐( S )‐ and (+)‐( R )‐3‐methylcyclopentene ( 1 ) has been prepared in a stereochemically unambiguous synthesis. The ( S )‐configuration for (−)‐ 1 was confirmed by correlation with (−)‐( S )‐1‐methylindane.
