The synthesis of new 2‐oxo‐2,8‐dihydro‐[l,2,4]‐oxadiazoo‐[2,3‐ a ] pyrimidine‐carbamates 3 described in this paper is based upon a regioselective heterocyclization of the pyrimidine‐2,6‐bis (alkoxycarbonylamino) N ‐oxides 4. Structural and mechanistic aspects of that cyclizalion are discussed.
