Occurrence of New Bifunctional Esters In Roman Camomile Oil ( Anthemis nobilis L .) Some novel aliphatic esters of the unusual 3‐hydroxy‐2‐methylidenebutyric acid have been found in the commercially available essential oil. Additionally, esters of (Z)‐2‐methyl‐2‐butenoic acid of structurally similar diols or other bifunctional alcohols have also been identified. Spectral data as well as a synthetic approach to the new esters of 3‐hydroxy‐2‐methylidenebutyric acid are given.
