Treatment of chaparrinone triacetate with benzeneseleninic anhydride afforded in addition to the Δ 14,15 ‐dehydro compound two products arising from angular hydroxylation at C(5). The mechanism of this reaction is discussed. The corresponding deacetylated compounds do not display significant antineoplastic activity.
