The synthesis of 2‐methyl‐6‐(4′‐methylphenyl)‐l‐hepten‐3‐one ( 1 ) and 2‐methyl‐6‐(4′‐methylphenyl)‐3‐heptanone ( 2 ), constituents of the oil of Cinnamomum cassia , is described.
