Reactions with derivatives of γ‐chloroacetoacetic acid Ethyl γ‐chloroacetoacetate reacts with ammonia to give ethyl β‐amino‐γ‐chloro‐crotonate; with aniline, however, β‐anilino‐crotonic acid γ‐lactone is formed. The reaction of ethyl α‐cyano‐γ‐chloro‐acetoacetate with arylamines yields 1‐aryl‐2‐amino‐3‐ethoxycarbonyl‐pyrrolin‐4‐ones.
