A stereoselective synthesis of (±)‐abscisic acid ( 7 ) is described in which 2‐ cis 3‐methylpent‐2‐en‐4‐yn‐1‐ol ( 2 ) is used to introduce the 2‐ cis , 4‐ trans geometry.
