A Synthesis of vitamin A has been achieved by alkylating a β‐ionylidene‐ethyl (C 15 ) aromatic sulfone with 1‐acetoxy‐3‐chlormethyl‐2‐butene (C 5 ) followed by elimination of the corresponding sulfinic acid.
