The known synthesis of DL ‐3‐(3,4‐dihydroxyphenyl)‐serine (DOPS) has been modified so that the diastereomeric threo and erythro forms could be separated. These were resolved into their antipodes, whose chemical, physical, and spectrochemical properties are discussed.
