A partial synthesis of dihydroanhydrohirundigenin ( 4 ), a hydrogenation product of naturally occurring anhydrohirundigenin ( 2 ) is described. Furthermore 4 is transformed into the formal dihydroderivative 14 of hirundigenin ( 1 ).
