Sordarin (C 27 H 40 O 8 ), an antifungal mould metabolite of Sordaria araneosa , has been degraded to the aglykon sordaricin (C 20 H 28 O 4 ) and 6‐desoxy‐4‐O‐methyl‐ D ‐altrose, a hitherto unknown sugar.
