A simple method is described for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of gas chromatograms with considerably overlapping peaks, based on the assumption of known retention indices and peak shapes. Its application to mixtures of deuteriated hydrocarbons is indicated. The extent to which the results are reproducible is shown to be about the same as that of high‐resolution gas chromatography or mass spectrometry.
