The mass spectra of the four monohaloacetylenes X‐CC‐H with X = F, Cl, Br, I and the six dihaloacetylenes X‐CC‐Y with X, Y = Cl, Br, I have been recorded. The dissociation energies of the carbon‐carbon triple bonds of these compounds have been determined from the appearance potentials of the CH + and CX + ions. The appearance potentials of the singly‐ and doubly‐charged molecular ions are also reported.
