The reaction of titanium tetra‐n‐butoxide with phenylmagnesium bromide inether has been investigated. The species (C 6 H 5 ) 2 Mg in the Grignard reagent leads to (C 6 H 5 ) 4 Ti, whereas the dimeric species (C 6 H 5 ) 2 Mg · MgBr 2 produces an insoluble complex mTi(OBu) 4 · n[(C 6 H 5 ) 2 Mg · MgBr 2 ]. Applied to other Grignard reagents, the use of R 2 Mg allowed the preparation of tetrabenzyltitanium, tetracyclohexyltitanium and tetramethyltitanium. Cristalline (C 6 H 5 ) 4 Ti and (C 6 H 5 CH 2 ) 4 Ti have been isolated.
