Boric acid‐benzoylacetone complexes, formed in concentrated sulfuric acid, are investigated phosphorimetrically after addition of ether to forme suitable glaces at 77K. Spectral, equilibrium and mean lifetime determinations establish the formation of two successif mononuclear complexes of stability β 1 = 1.4 ± 0.1 ± 10 5 et β 2 = 3.1 ± 0.3 ± 10 7 . Structures, based on equilibrium and spectral data, are proposed. The applicability of phosphorimetry to complex formation studies and its advantages, in this case, over fluorimetry and colorimetry, are briefly discussed on the basis of results obtained in the present work.
