Epoxidation of di‐O‐acetyl‐roridin A ( 2 ) gave the two mono‐epoxides 3 (not pure) and 4 (main product) and the di‐epoxide 5 . Subsequent treatment of 4 with ozone and NaBH 4 led to the esters 6 and 8 . They yielded the acetylderivatives 7 and 9 respectively. Since the degradation products prove the sites of the ester linkages also in roridin A ( 1 ), the structure of this antibiotic is proved beyond any doubt.
